improve parking access at Mahoning Bridge-303 Mahoning Road, Templeton

What is the Project:
• Safety First: Secure railings reduce fall risks and create a more confident experience, especially over ridges.
• Better Access = More Usage: Improved parking turns that messy pull-off into a viable trailhead, encouraging more people to use the trail and boosts local trail economic activity, much like we've seen elsewhere.
• Cleaner, Localized Benefit: Clearing vegetation and tidying the area not only improves safety but also preserves the environment and enhances aesthetic appeal, encouraging more frequent use.

What will the volunteers do:
Volunteers will provide all of the labor for the Mahoning Bridge Safety and Parking
Improvements project. Their work will include:
• Fastening custom-fabricated brackets and installing railing extensions
• Ripping and preparing boards for use on the bridge
• Clearing bridge abutments of debris
• Removing vegetation and overgrowth around the bridge and parking area
• Barrier between parking area and trail to deter motorized vehicle access
• Assisting with stone placement and compaction for the improved parking surface
• Operate equipment
