Friends of the Riverfronttwo trailers to expand its capacity to remove and haul materials for volunteersWhat is the Project: Friends has one mid-size pickup truck to steward the 33-miles Heritage Trail and 31 Water Trail launches which limits our ability to remove project debris and move project materials. Stewardship currently relies on municipal support to remove vegetative debris and large amounts of trash from project sites, which can sometimes take days or weeks for collection to occur. We currently incur added delivery costs when needing to supply materials, such as trees, mulch, stone, or lumber that cannot be hauled in our existing truck to project sites. A materials trailer will expand our capacity to remove debris quickly from volunteer project sites (the side of the trail) in a more effective manner and offer more control over supply of materials and equipment for volunteer-led beautification projects across the system. What will the volunteers do: The equipment requests in this proposal will be used by volunteers during public and corporate workdays that occur throughout 2024 to A) remove debris (vegetative, trash) and deliver supplies to project sites (mulch, stone, lumber) B) transport a newly acquired fleet of non-motorized watercraft for river and stream-based projects along the Water Trail. <-p> What Are You Asking the Fund to Provide: Friends of the Riverfront requests one solid side utility trailer and one three tier kayak and canoe trailer for immediate use in 2024: Grant funded February 2024 |
