The requested hand tools will allow Friends to quickly respond to tool requests from Stewards and more effectively keep the trail safe, accessible, and clean as spring regrowth begins. Safety equipment is essential for the safety of all volunteers and Stewards. Friends seek to outfit all volunteer participants and stewards properly on each project site. What will the volunteers do: The requested hand tools will allow Friends to quickly respond to tool requests from Stewards and more effectively keep the trail safe, accessible, and clean as spring regrowth begins. Safety equipment is essential for the safety of all volunteers and Stewards. Friends seek to outfit all volunteer participants and stewards properly on each project site. Equipped with the requested equipment, volunteers advanced viewshed management projects (vine cutting, invasive management, tree and dead limb pruning) along the River Avenue, Strip District, and Marshall Shadeland segments of the trail, as well as other Heritage Trail and Water Trail project site locations based on workday requirements, and safely removed 178 tons of undesired vegetation.
