request a zero turn mower to mow smaller parklets

What is the Project:

Within the past year volunteers have helped will\ many projects on the trail from the restoration of the turntable. clearing scenic areas and surfacing trail. With the influx of new trail users. we feel it is important to create pocket parks along the trail. Also hidden wooded paths that open up to reveal a view, Phillipston Turntable area is- not just the turntable itself but an area where tracks existed along with buildings, these are being unearthed. Mahoning Bridge restoration is a project for 2021 and has a spectacular view of the river, These are a few example$ of many pocket parks. A place for parents and families to explore with their kids and grandparents to detach from what is going on in the world. These pocket parks require a bit more attention than the monthly mowings the trail receives. We have planted grass instead of letting them fill in on their own.

What will Volunteers do? Be clear about how much volunteer effort will be involved along with the value of that effort compared to the materials you are asking the Fund to provide.

Volun1eers will weekly mow the pocket parks. We plan on an adopt-a-pocket park campaign. Most have been adopted already. Armstrong Trails staff' will haul the mower to the location for the volunteer to use and then return to pick it up.

The amount of time the proper tools will give and Save volunteers is exponential over the life of their usefulness.
