Westmoreland Heritage

Purcashe a new mower, since the 1999 mower is geting worn out

What is the Project:

The Westmoreland Yough Trail Chapter (WYTC) of the Regional Trail Corporation (RTC) would like to purchase a John Deere tractor for use in maintaining the 10.5-mile-long section of the Great Allegheny Passage (GAP) within Westmoreland County. In 1999/2000 the WYTC purchased a John Deere tractor model 4300. That piece of equipment has served the WYTC well and has been showing signs of its age for the past several years. Constant hydraulic oil leaks and various other repairs are becoming a hindrance to efficient operations when the tractor is out of service for repairs. However, the 4300 will not be discarded, but instead semi-retired. It can become the grass mower for the southern section of the WYTC section of the GAP. It will be kept in the village of Van Meter for that purpose. The new John Deere Model 3046R will improve our ability to perform all the routine and emergency maintenance on the trail.

Request: This is a request for funding of 90% that would be used for the purchase of the John Deere 3046R tractor and mid-mount mower. The description of the tractor and mower with accompanying prices is attached.

WYTC Contribution: The Westmoreland Yough Trail Chapter will provide partial funding for this project and will use the mower on a continuing basis, as will other funding organizations. Please see the attached proposed budget for details.
