Install a phone charging station at Huff Avenue Trailhead

What is the Project:

What is the Project? Briefly, what are you planning to do, and how will it benefit the trail system?

I plan to install a cellphone charging station at the Huff Avenue Trail Head on the Five Star Trail. It will be a weatherproof shelf with two GFCI protected four-port USB outlets. I will also develop and post nine informational signs directing trail users to the charging station. Finally, I will write an article for the Five Star Trail Newsletter about the project and attempt to get an article in the Tribune-Review as well. See attached diagrams for additional information.

What Are You Asking the Fund to Provide? Be specific about what you're asking the Fund to support and how that fits into the overall project. Give an approximate budget for the project that shows what you’re asking the fund to provide and any other funds you’re planning on.

I am asking for funds to cover the materials necessary to build the shelf with the USB outlets which will then be connected to the existing breaker box located in the Huff Avenue storage trailer. I will also use the funds to purchase informational signs. The cost of this project has been estimated at $850.00. I plan to apply for funding through the Westmoreland Parks and Recreation Citizens Advisory Board for any balance that the Trail Volunteer Fund does not provide. See attached budget for additional information.

What Will Volunteers Do? Be clear about how much volunteer effort will be involved, along with the value of that effort compared to the materials you are asking the Fund to provide.

Troop 480 scouts and scout leaders along with adults from Troop 465 will help build the shelf and electrical components, and install the signs on eight trailheads. This should take about two weekends. A licensed electrician will approve the project and make the final connection of the shelf to the existing electrical breaker. I will write an article for the Five Star Trail newsletter and possibly for the tribune review.
