The Rachel Carson Conservancy saw the opportunity to improve the safety of its annual Baker Ultrachallenge b moving one leg of the event from roads to the Redbank Valley Trail. Doing this required completion of bridge decking on several bridges and volunteers from several organizations responded to the call to do the work.

The grant from the Trail Volunteer Fund supports purchase materials for bridge deck, rails, and bollards to be installed by volunteers of the Rachel Carson Conservancy and the Redbank Valley Trail Association on the Coder Run (MP39.28) and Rose Siding (MP41.0) bridges on the Redbank Valley Trail.
