The Trail Volunteer Fund was established in 2007, and the first grant was made in early 2008. In 2008 the Fund made grants for 10 projects on 6 trails, including 3 scout projects. The trails included Allegheny River Trail, Butler-Freeport Trail, Montour Trail, and the Three Rivers, Youghiogheny River, and Allegheny Highlands segments of the Great Allegheny Passage. In the first two-thirds of 2009 the Fund made grants for 10 projects on 8 trails, including 1 scout project. The trails included Allegheny River Trail, Armstrong Trail, Butler-Freeport Trail. Montour Trail, Panhandle Trail, and numerous trails of the Great Allegheny Passage. View the locations of these projects in Google Maps or Google Earth.
