This project will construct safety fencing on the new Memorial Bridge trail extension from the Great Allegheny Passage into Connellsville. Volunteers will include one or two Eagle Scout projects. The Youghiogheny River Trail Council and PennDot have entered into an agreement to extend a Bike/Hike trail across the Yough River to the North end of Connellsville for access to more amenities for trail users. This trail is incorporated into the bridge renovations approved by PennDot. The trail's responsibility is to install a safety fence on the embankment side of the trail to prevent users from a fall. This will provide an encased passage across the river on both sides of the highway for the users of the Great Allegheny Passage. The grant from the Trail Volunteer Fund supports purchase of materials for the Scouts and other volunteers to construct a safety fence for the trail extension over the Memorial Bridge in Connellsville. Grant awarded September 2010
